Aspect ratio compares width to height after reducing by their greatest common divisor (for example 1920×1080 → 16:9).
16:9 is common for monitors and TVs. 16:10, 3:2, and 21:9 (ultrawide) also appear. Phones are often taller portrait ratios.
Portrait swaps which side is larger; we still simplify width:height from the current screen dimensions.
This page uses full screen width and height, not the browser viewport.
Scaled displays, multi-monitor setups, or unusual panels can produce less common simplified ratios.
